Motivation to Be Fit

Today I was over at weight-loss.fitness.com and joined their forum.  In a post I read, someone said they joined a YMCA near their house so they would not have an excuse not to exercise.  Well, I responded by warning that there will always be an excuse not to exercise.

But there will also always be an even bigger reason to exercise.  And that is the beauty of fitness!

Fitness is life.  The more fit you are, the more you will be able to enjoy life.  The healthier you are, the better you will feel each moment of every day.

If you are fit, you will be able to move better.  You will feel better sitting at your desk at work.  You will feel better walking up the stairs.  You will be able to pick up and move heavy items.  You will be able to keep up with your kids.  You will be able to enjoy many of life’s moments that you cannot enjoy if you are not fit.

Ever hear the expression: survival of the fittest?

Of course, you have.  Well, that sums up what life is all about.  If you are fit, you get ahead in life.  If you are not fit, you have to catch up.

Your fitness level will impact every area of your life, so if you cannot find motivation to be fit than you will probably never be fit.

I must be blunt with you.

You can go out and read all the motivational rah-rah stuff in the world.  Read all the inspirational quotes.  Watch an Anthony Robbins DVD.  Hire a personal trainer to yell at you.

All that is fine, but you must find the motivation to be fit inside of you.

The motivation to be fit is really a motivation to live.  In order to be fit, you must treat your body well.  You must take care of yourself.  This says that you want to live.  It says that you want to experience life to your fullest potential.  It says that you want to get the most out of each moment that you have on earth.

Fitness is life.   It is your life.

But you must allow it to be.

Find your own motivation to be fit, and find your own motivation to live.
